Healthcare Staffing Solutions for Ontario Facilities
Shield Family Care Services provides qualified, screened healthcare and support professionals to hospitals, long-term care homes, group homes, and community organizations across Ontario — reliably and responsively.
Reliable Staffing When and Where You Need It
Staffing shortages in Ontario's healthcare sector are a persistent reality — driven by ongoing recruitment challenges, unexpected absences, and growing demand for care services. Shield Family Care Services exists to help facilities bridge those gaps with qualified, compliant professionals who can step in quickly and perform effectively from day one.
Whether you need a single PSW for an emergency shift, a team of DSWs for an ongoing program, or clinical nurses for supplemental coverage, SFCS has the network and the process to match your needs efficiently. Every professional we place has been personally vetted, credential-verified, and background-checked before they enter our network.
We serve healthcare organizations of all types and sizes across Ontario — and we understand that different settings have very different requirements. Our approach is consultative: we take time to understand your facility, your resident or client population, and the specific qualities you need in a professional.

Our Screening & Verification Process
Every professional in the SFCS network has passed our rigorous multi-step screening process before they are eligible for placement.
Application & Initial Review
All applicants complete a detailed application including work history, credentials, certifications, and references. Our team reviews each application to assess basic eligibility before proceeding.
Credential & Registration Verification
We verify all professional credentials, licences, and registrations directly with issuing bodies — including CNO registration for nurses and any other regulated designations.
Criminal Background Check (Including Vulnerable Sector)
All professionals undergo a criminal background check, including a vulnerable sector screen, which is required for anyone working with vulnerable populations in Ontario.
Reference Checks
We contact professional references — typically prior supervisors or employers — to verify employment history and assess suitability for the types of placements we facilitate.
Personal Interview
Every applicant who passes the above steps is interviewed by a member of our team. We assess communication skills, professional judgement, attitude, and alignment with our values.
Ongoing Monitoring
We conduct periodic reviews of professionals in our network, track credential renewal dates, and respond promptly to any concerns raised by facilities or clients following placement.
